PostSubject: Guild ranks, open view   Guild ranks, open view Icon_minitimeWed May 20, 2009 7:35 pm

It's time to start discussing the guild ranks. Note that this is just my idea, if you have ideas of your own or want to modify this idea, then don't hesitate to post!

The general thought and idea I had that, since it's a family based guild, the power and position you have depends on how close you are to the current head of the house, by blood that is. For instance, the brother of the matriarch would have more to say about than her highest councilor, even if the brother was a "normal" citizen. If you're playing family, we'll discuss which exact rank and power-spot you have.

In short however, the rankings will be the following, in order

Civilian
Military
Religious
Patriarch/Matriarch
Legate
Highpriest/Master Templar
Councilor
Centurion
Priest of Mitra/Templar
Citizen
Milite
Adept
Slave
Tirone
Disciple

As for councilors, their role depends greatly on who they are a councilor for. A councilor to a powerful person which has granted them rights will have more to say about than a councilor which hasn't, obviously. A "normal" councilor is right next to a centurion, meaning that if there is a military situation to solve, the Centurion has the higher rank. If it's a civilian situation, the Councilor is in charge.
Same goes for Milite and Citizen (even though none of them really have a position of power).

A house spy/assassin has no real power to order anyone around unless the current head of the house or such has granted him that right.

A diplomat of the house hasn't got any real power within the house either, but if they're traveling far abroad upon a mission of some sorts their word is only challenged by a Legate or Highpriest of Mitra.
And here followes a short description of the ranks of the House.

Patriarch/Matriarch

Required class: None
A male or a female head of the house. Two can exist at the same time, if this is the case, it's generally the Patriarch who rule the house.

A patriarch cannot take his throne unless he is married, and a matriarch has no more power than her husband gives her. If a patriarch should die and there are no heirs available for the throne, the matriarch will rule until a heir is ready. However, if she's managed to make herself popular, she could probably cling to the throne until the end of her days before the heir gets his say.

Highpriest of Mitra/Master Templar
Required class: Priest of Mitra, Dark Templar
A male or female (In that case, Highpriestess of Mitra) who has got the closest connection with the current Matriarch/Patriarch and thus has been given the power to not only command the other priests, but also become the highest instance if anyone has a question for Mitra or requires his blessing.
A Master templar is the head of the Dark Templars, who are also a part of the church part of the house, if they wish to.
As much as they are religious they are also warriors who fight with their faith at their side, using the powers of Mitra to cleanse the world of their foes.
Even if they share the same spot in the rank list, the highpriest has a higher rank and thus more power than the Master Templar, even if s/he does not command the unit in battle.

Anyone who has got good enough ties to the current head of the house can become a highpriest, however there can only be one at a time and same goes for Master Templar.

Legate
Required class: Soldier-type
A male or female (Generally a male) who has the highest military rank in the guild. Consider this person a general who is in full control of his forces and is the one with the last say in a battle of what is to be done.
That is, if the current head of the house doesn't say otherwise.

For the current, there can only be one Legate. If we gain greater numbers, perhaps we'll consider getting some more.

Priest of Mitra/Templar
Required class: Priest of Mitra, Dark Templar
A male of female (Priestess of Mitra) who serves as a priest to the house. Confessions can be made to them, and they have the right to bless a member of the house.

Their power is, as one would expect of one with a religious role, great.

The Templar is a holy soldier, a warrior who fights for the house of Tanisius but also for Mitra with great devotion to the one true God.

Centurion / Councilor
Required class: Soldier-type, Rogue-type (Centurion)
Required class: None (Councilor)
A centurion is a middle-ranked officer, and as orders are handed out by the Legate, it's up to him to make sure that his men can fulfill them, or die alongside with him. A centurion is a rank which can only be gained through experience on the battlefield (Which has angered some of the younger members of the actual family who want to make a quick career to glory).
A councilor is a person who has been granted the honor to serve as an extra mind to someone with power in the house of Tanisius. For instance, a diplomat can require a councilor for a long journey, and the matriarch intend to have at least one councilor present at all times.

In times of peace, a councilor has a higher saying than a centurion, in times of war, a centurion has a higher saying than a councilor.

Adept
Required class: Priest of Mitra, Dark templar
An adept is a priest of Mitra who has finished their studies to become a priest but has yet seen enough of the world and gained enough experience to become an actual priest. To take the step from Adept to priest of Mitra an actual priest of Mitra must accept you into trial. What this trial will be is entirely up to the priest of Mitra.

If you are a Dark templar, then you'll simply be a member of the organization as a holy warrior, though at the current time training to become a fully fledged Templar.

Milite
Required class: Soldier-type, Rogue-type
A milite is a private in the army or the guard. His work is to obey the orders of those ranked above him and if he does his work well he can very well become a centurion.

Generally a milite is just above a citizen.

Disciple
Required class: Priest of Mitra, Dark Templar
A disciple is a person who study to become a priest of Mitra who has yet to finish their studies.
The studies have two distinct parts.
The first half is to become an actual priest of Mitra with all that it
takes, the second part is to become initiate with the house of Tanisius
rules and values.

If you are a Dark templar, then you'll be a Templar in training to become a true templar in order to wield your weapons for the one true God.

Tirone / Citizen
Required class: Soldier-type, Rogue-type (Tirone)
Required class: None (Citizen)

A citizen is about everyone who doesn't fit into one of the ranks above, say an assassin, a barkeep or a merchant.
A tirone is a new recruit in the army, still in training to become an actual, professional soldier. A tirone is often assigned to lesser guard duties and such, if he is given any duties at all, however in times of war everyone who knows the sharp end of a sword is assembled.

Slave
Required class: None
A slave is someone who was either bought or captured into slavery by the house of Tanisius. A slave can be anything from a worker to a gladiator to a servant for a priest.

A slave can be made free if the current owner wishes it to be so.
A slave cannot take up a military career unless it is through the gladiator arena or acting as a bodyguard to the current owner.

For those who are actual old guild-members visiting, I just wanted to show the guild-structure idea to another guild-leader, to share some creativity and ideas.

Don't get your hopes up.
Sorry :/
